Da piccola avevo una bellissima collezione di timbri in legno con lettere dell'alfabeto e animali della fattoria. Passavo ore e ore (almeno, a me sembravano ore e ore, in realtà dovevano essere tre minuti massimo) a timbrare fogli e vestitini, per la gioia di mia madre che doveva lavare tutto. Da allora mi sono sempre piaciuti i timbri. Ne comprerei a sacchi se non fossero così cari. Così ogni tanto provo a farmene qualcuno a mano. Con scarso successo devo dire. Finché un paio di giorni fa non sono capitata su questo blog e ho trovato una tecnica molto semplice per fare timbri con materiale riciclato.
When I was little, I had this beautiful farm
themed set of wooden stamps. I used to spend hours and hours (at least I thought
it was hours and hours but, much more
probably, it was like three minutes tops) stamping my favorite animals on sheets of paper
and dresses (to my mother happiness). From then on I always loved stamps. I would buy thousands of
those if they were not so expensive. And that’s why sometimes I try to make my
own from different materials. With scarce success I have to admit, until a few
days ago when I stumbled on this blog and I found this super easy technique to
create stamps from recycled materials!

Vediamo cosa ci serve per fare questi timbrini:
- Un foglio di spugna (l'ho comprato da Tiger; lì si chiama foam sheet e presumo che "foglio di spugna/gommapiuma" sia la traduzione corretta).
- Vecchi tappi di sughero o altri supporti simili. La ragazza del blog usa vecchie bobine finite.
- Matita.
- Forbici, meglio se da ricamo.
- Uno spiedino.
- Inchiostro da timbro.
Let's see what we need for our stamps:
- 1 Foam sheet.
- Old corcks or a similar round bases(the girl from the blog used old plastic cotton reels).
- A pencil.
- Embroidery scissors or similar scissors.
- A skewer.
- Stamp ink.
Procediamo!
Let's procede!
Step 1) Disegniamo sul retro del del foglio di gommapiuma la forma dei tappi di sughero, in modo da avere un'indicazione su quanto grande fare il timbro.
Step 1) Trace the outline of the corck on the back of the foam sheet so you won't draw a stamp bigger than your support.
Step 2) Ritagliamo il cerchio e disegnamo il timbro.
Step 2) Cut out the circle and draw the stamp.
Step 3) Tagliamo il timbro seguendo il disegno.
Step 3) Cut the outline of the stamp following your design.
Step 4) Con lo spiedino incidiamo il timbro per aggiungere i particolari (occhi, bocche, puntini, strisce, ecc). Per buchi più grossi spingere lo spiedino più a fondo.

Step 4) With the skewer carve the details (eyes, mouths, dots, lines, ecc). If you want bigger holes press the skewer deeper.
Step 5) Togliamo la pellicola protettiva dal foglio di spugna e appiccichiamo al tappo di sughero.
Step 5) Remove the protective film from your foam sheet and stik the stamps to the corcks.
I timbri sono finiti! Adesso divertitevi a decorare i vostri bigliettini o i vostri quaderni. Buon divertimento!
